Growing at last Empty Growing at last

Post by Alan H Thu Apr 14, 2011 11:35 pm

Things have slowly warmed up and now we have blossom on the pear and plum trees - the plum was only planted late last autumn and the frosts didn't do it a lot of good, so it will get some serious pruning when I can tell what's dead and what's only kidding - the apple trees are just starting to flower so maybe it'll be another good cropping year. Must get the apple squasher out and try some more cider.
Beetroot and radishes are growing well and the good old mustard & cress is happily getting munched already. Onions are 'set' and sweetcorn is sprutting well. Salad stuff - lettuce and rocket are showing outside so the horse shit must be doing some good. Goosegog bush has not been deleafed this time and lots of flowers so that looks good as do the blueberry plants.
Lynn's doing the flowers and I've told her to get them shifted as soon as the tomatoes & cucumbers are big enough to go in the growbags.
I fetched a packet of 'assorted seeds' from Lanzarote last year and there's lots of green showing in the two trays - gawd knows what there will be, I'll try to identify the spruts when they are bigger. Last but not least (for the moment) just one pepper showing, but they are slow to get started, so perhaps a few more will show if it gets warmer this weekend. Been quite cool the last couple of days.
Just got some of the freeby seeds from the daily mail so I'll bung some of those in too and see if they're any good.
Other jobs for this year are a cover over the side of the house and a cover over the patio. Should be able to get on with these this weekend as Lynn's away with her mates.

Downright foosty these days actually big Cheesy. Since we had a major water burst in't bathroom last winter, I haven't had a bath/shower for six fecking months, cos our bath has been in the garden since then!

I did try and take a bath one morning when it was full of rainwater but the silly bint next door caught sight of me and ran away screaming - I guess she must've saw my huge brown plums and my best friend wully?

Wimmin! Weird creatures for sure. Rolling Eyes

It's yum.

But smelly.

It's wrapped up, in a airtight sandwich box in the fridge.

Mrs Cheese comes down and asks what that disgusting smell is!!!

And when you said 'it's cheese' she thought you meant that you was the smelly cheese in question! Rolling Eyes
