So, after replacing the banjo bolt I was mobile again.

Rode to work, where it got an amazing reaction. Mainly as it cost less than most peoples suits and certainly less that their Breitlings and Rolexes. Tossers.

So, 50 mile round trip all hunky dory.

Next day the rear brake was bad then non-existent. The fucking brake rod nut had disappeared! How did that happen!

Sothis morning I replaced the brake rod nut with two, tightened up against each other and Loctited!

Noticed that the number plate had now fallen off in the garage over night! Well it was stuck on with the double sided foam pads and the paint it was stuck to was a bit er, well Indian!

So went for a jolly with no number plate. well I ad to test the rear brake, Officer.

Came home and removed the rear number plate housing. I've sprayed it up black, and tomorrow I'm going to stencil on white characters. I found the correct font and size. So I, hopefully, should get away with it.

Mmm thinking about it, I suppose I could mark the reflective plate up with the correct spacings for holes whilst the housing is off, in case some copper gets arsey.

Just put the number plate back on.

Looks quite good considering it has rust holes right through it!

Reconnected the fucking brake switch spring back on. What a ridiculous job. Little job and it takes ages to get the spring back on!

That's it. It's ridable again now.

Mmm just thinking.

Gear change is shite.

The lever wobbles all over the place. But it's cinched up. So need to draw a hacksaw down the groove so it can be squeezed in a bit more.

Rode her to work a couple of times last week. Then I had to pick a parcel up from a depot. No indication of size so I had to take the Rangie - twice as the parcel wasn't there the first time. FFS. Then I find it was a wallet that hat to be signed for. Bollocks.

Had a look over her. I found the chain can be pulled off the sprocket!

I went to the Enfield dealer yesterday morning. He says he always keeps one in stock - but has just sold it...

Went back and adjusted the chain. Still knackered but might not snatch now.

Noticed a side light out on the nacelle. Still 6 volt. No wonder it blew. Got a replacement. Might need the two side lights if the head lamp goes! I am laughing.

Filled up. It took 24 litres. So I guess it's the 3 gallon tank then! There are reports of 80 mpg with them so, about four times the miles to the gallon than the Rangie!

Oh yeah. I went to adjust the rear brake after adjusting the chain. Found brake light didn't come on at all. Found a multimeter. Had a play around. Did nothing and the light now comes on. Nice.

Still got a few things to do. I think it may be like that for a while!

Having no rear light might be interesting when travelling sloewer than the rest of the traffic. I'll have to keep an eye on that. Can't be much wrong, but I could keep a spare cycle lamp ready to duct tape to the rear seat in case of emergencies! I am laughing!

Told you so...Chain is standard 530 or 5/8ths x 3/8ths (same thing) measure the amount of links you have and go to any bike shop and buy theappropiate chain or try Wemoto on the web.

Bill. If I just wanted reliability and a high top speed I would have bought a CB125!

Ah, the old Indian Subconyinent 8 litres to the gallon (curry) calculation. Not the 4.54 that everyone else uses. I suppose they didn't do a 5 1/2 gallon tank as people couldn't get their knees that far apart? Rolling Eyes

Sounds like either a loose bulb, dirty bulb contacts or the fuckup fairy is alive and well in your garage. Shocked

Let's face it though, you didn't actually buy a Rangie with any thought of economy in mind did you? :I am laughing:

Should do 70mph ish. Yours sounds like it may be 'tired' and needs spicing up.

80mpg is good 70mpg is average.

It may be tight. It has been re-built.

I need to check with the geezer when it was done.

I had thought she would travel between 55-65 mph. Which would be OK.

Took the kick start lever off so I could get the gear leaver.

Undoing the gear leaver bolt it broke in half!

Took off the gear lever and took a dremmel to the gap where it gets cinched up. Opened up the slot a bit and put the lever back on. It can now be cinched up tight on the shaft. Shaft still has 5 mm play though!

Found a replacement bolt for the kick start and bolted that back on.

Went for a test drive. It made all the difference, along with the chain tightening.

Don't think I missed a gear change once. Brilliant fun in the sun!

Bugger forgot the side light bulb. I'll do that later...
