I sold thousands of the buggers 7",10",12" singles, E.Ps and L.P.s just before I moved back to Somerset.

What is the 'one' you are looking for Jem?

I've always been curious about record collecting. I reckon they have to be in perfect, or near perfect nick to be worth the bother?

I've thrown away stacks of the bastards over the years, 'cos they were damaged in one way or another - jumping or too scratchy sounding, was I right to do so?

I've still got some scratched to buggery Bowie promotional LP's, courtesy of my brother in law's marital strife with my poisoned dwarf of a sister (she deliberately scratched his Bowie collection when she found some girly mags up their chimney!

I bought all the different versions a couple of years ago. excellent entertainment while driving.
Did you cry when he found his wife Carrie again? I sniffled a bit.
She was a bit apeshit though I thought, and wouldn't do as she was told.
That's no good. A disobedient woman - whatever will they allow next!!!

I'm not looking for anything in particular Bill at the moment, it has all stopped really since getting made redundant last year, even though we are both working again, between us we are 19k a year down so luxury things like records are out the window.

Ray, if they are scratched they are pretty much worthless really unless they really rare records, in which case they are still worth a few quid, usually just as fillers for collections.

In my experience of record collecting there two distinct types of collector, there the ones like myself who play their records often and don't mind a few light crackles ( adds to the nostalgia thing)
And then there are the ones who will only buy absolutely mint condition records and never play them Probably don't even have a deck ( Just fucking look at them and wank probably) and marvel over "HOW MUCH MY COLLECTION IS WORTH"

For those that remember the film That'll be the day, and more to the point the Ronko soundtrack, I made it a mission to get all the songs off that album on original UK issue 45's, I got the first 30 tracks which was the first 3 sides of the double album but the rest of them were songs written for the film, took ages but I made it

I just spent fucking ages typing a reply to this and for some reason bill gates fucked it up. and stole it.
Suffice to a say that most people buy and sell stuff to make money - it doesn't make them bad people. It makes them smart unless they take the piss, then the customer can always walk away. Offer what you feel something is worth and then fukkit.
If you buy things and want to keep them, fine. But if the kids that you save things for don't appreciate the fact, that doesn't make you abad parent - perhaps just a mug.
Kids? Fuckin' hate 'em. Never wanted or had any (as far as I'm aware) so as far as buying and selling things for their benefit - that's for Lynn & me to make the best of things when we retire. Anyone doesn't like it.
Tough.
That's my legacy.

You don't have the Ronco album by any chance do you Jem, and if so, do you have the means to burn it onto a cd ?

I tried to buy it recently but it would seem it was never put onto cd !

I might have a copy on Vinyl if you want it mate, I have compiled the first 30 tracks onto CD, but with few changes ( there were a few Buddy Holly songs that were covered by Bobby Vee for the film that I could neither get on vinyl or download so I used the the Buddy versions)

Let me know what you would prefer

I could not be bothered with all the pissing about ripping vinyl to MP3 it takes fucking ages and I dont have the patience for all that shit anymore

I can fleabay it on vinyl Jem, but I fancied it on CD so I could listen to in in my ickle workshop and annoy the neighbours.

I wanted it as it was recorded cos when I hear any of the tracks on the radio I automatically want it to roll into the next song on the album, down to the last and quite dreadful "rock on."

I don't know how hard it would be to play it on my deck directly into my laptop ? Mr Bill, how hard would that be ?
