Just been up to Fort William and had a good run round over the last few days. 1115 miles in 5 days.
Oban, Skye, Fort Augustus. Boating on Loch Ness. Lovely time. Rained a bit - natch! - but didn't spoil the break.
Based in FW, Highland Hotel. That's the third time we've stayed there, excellent value.
Company that owns it is Lochs and Glens (clicky link), try the 'self drive offers' very good prices.

Nice though Ray. Only problem was several busses full of moaning fakkin suvners!

We go up at this time of year because there aren't so many tourists, and take 'wet weather gear' as we know it will be used!
Shit weather or no, it's a pleasure to drive on empty roads in such good condition. Might get back up to Oban in February. Pity you aren't a bit closer and I'd pop in for one of your ratburgers!!

Aye, the Scottish west coast is gorgeous Al, I love it and still miss it lots, don't miss the midges though! Trouble is all the tourists love it too, until they get there and get eaten alive - especially all those "moaning suvners", bloody pussies! Laughing

If you're going to Oban next year you could visit Mallaig and try their delicious kippers - beats visiting a smelly old caveman and eating his ratburgers anyday! Razz

Mind you, if you are ever passing this way you're welcome to drop in mate, here's my addy:-

Real Scottish folks never moan about who gets into their country, as long as the visitors have got lots of dosh and are willing to spend it - bit like ever other country on the planet. Laughing

Needs must. Smile

No, about being townies aparently.

They come all the way to beautiful scenery and complain there's no cities.
Don't they research their destination before going on jollies?
Just shows what small minded dozy pillocks most of them are.
