What companies are best for bike insurance these days?

Loads. At present I am using Swintons as they suit my circumstances. £120 a year full comp any bike.

Not having any no claims woun't help me though.

Tell them you have been driving your car for years and am returning,do you have full licence?

When I had a bike I used Footman James

I'll try pointing out the car no claims, good idea. Had full licence for over 30 years but not had a bike for almost 25.

Cheapest quote so far is just over £200 fully comp which is better than I expected.

FJ for me. But I have Classic Bike insurance.

Swintons wanted £250 but came down to £200 when I said Triumph had quoted me £204.

Cheapest so far seems to be Hastings Direct at £131 - anyone used them before?

In the past, they were OK, sent me a renewal in time to change again.
