Cheese will as he rides a very early version, and oddly I had a ride of this very model yesterday. My considered opinion as a experienced motorcyclist? It was shit in every way you could think, and this is someone that like brit bikes, singles and plodding along!

I like 'em - cheap enough and as long as you don't expect jap bike comfort and quality (or even current British) they have a certain charm.

The export models are better than those built for the Indian home market though.

We have one that wasn't a lot of dosh second hand with minimal mileage.

Look at where the swingarm is mounted John, a relatively thin gusset between a small 'cradle' on the frame. The proper Brit Enfields were much stronger in this area. Now, Imagine the amouunt of sideways loading there is going to be from the wheel end of the swingarm to that pivot point, that is one reason I don't like them.
The brake actuating rod has a bend in it so when you press the pedal, the rod's natural thing will be to straighten out a tad, so you won't be getting the best braking force.
I could go on,and on,and on, and on,and on,and on.
