None.

Usually we reserve the motor for a electric powered device and engine for something that has internal or external (steam) combustion.

I've motored along, but I've never engined along.

Maybe I have done, but it doesn't sound right does it?

I went into a shop one day, it was a engine shop, I said "what this 'ere" the blokey said "A engine" so I said, "it's a engineer then"? Blokey didn't laugh as much as I did, in fact he didn't laugh at all.

i really dont think theres a difference.theyre both used the same way.i think it just has to do with how it rolls off the tongue.
