Hello Blossom
Nice to see it on the trees again, proper signs of spring.
Lots on the apple trees, not as much as last year, but after the winter we had I'm surprised there's any at all. The pear trees have just about done with the flowers and so has the plum tree. Hopefully we will have some sort of decent crop this year.
Still cool at night, so most of the seedy stuff gets put to bed in the GH. I got some assorted seeds from Lanzarote last year and that has all sprutted well, just no idea WTF it is at this stage! It'll be a case of 'pot it on and see what develops'.
The bullfinches are back on the feeders, as are the greenfinches, blue tits, great tits (aren't most of them!) and gold finches. On the down side, the hawk keeps patrolling and as the garden is quite open, there are less dickies about than in the past.

The parks around here are really nice. Worth pausing to take a look rather than galloping by!

Re: Hello Blossom
Had a good day in the garden/GH yesterday, toms & 'cumbers potted on, sweetcorn planted outside and the beetroot is coming along fine. Carrots sprutting as are the peppers and leeks. Onions starting to show in the GH - the ones outside are still sleeping! and the salady stuff is now showing willing. Plenty of flowers on the blueberry bushes and the goosegogs are actually the size of sultanas, so unless the dickies scoff them, there may be a small goosegog bun later this year!

Re: Hello Blossom
Tried a goosegog yesterday, where's the sugar bowl!!!!!!
Everything else growing like mad now. Lots of Pears, apples and even a couple of plums (fnarr, fnarr) showing. I've got to get lots sorted before I go on hols to Gozo in a week and a bit, so I'll try and get some updates on here as well.

I'm doing my bit Al, I put up a bee box and so far 13 0f the holes have been occupied, good for the pollinating fruit trees I believe.

Re: Hello Blossom
Did you make the bee box out of old canes or did you buy a fucking expensive designer Kings Road one for a zillion quid?

Re: Hello Blossom
A kings road one for a zillion quid, which was basically a box full of old canes, but it was a present so I don't care.
You can use a big lump of fire wood and drill lots of holes in it, if you make one, it has to face south, and be about a metre off the ground, with access to earth (so they can plug the holes)

I saw an insect house made of canes squeezed into old coke bottles.

The Bee box.
You can't see it from here but the second one in, top left, is occupied.
There he is.

Re: Hello Blossom
They like to bee on their own. That's why they are called solitary bees. Innit.
Nice pics Dungy, you do them or get some help from a 10 year old?

It's what the birds and the bees get up to mate.
