A new bike Empty A new bike

Post by Jem Tue Jun 19, 2012 9:49 pm

As I have next to fuck all money anymore, on my walk to work there is an old CX500 plastic maggot parked in a front garden and I have been toying with the idea to slip a note through the door to ask if its for sale real cheap, knowing nothing about them I was wondering if any of you lot know if they are any good, I know they are butt ugly but they have two wheels and I am getting bad twitches when ever I see a bike these days.

It seems to be all there and has a two into one exhaust fitted but seems to be otherwise standard

I used to have one years ago Jem, I have to say I didn't like it, i couldn't say why, I just didn't.

Having said that, it never let me down, was used as a dispatch bike by many companys, did everything I asked of it,mega reliable, bla bla bla, It just wasn't me if you know what I mean.

Knock on his door, what's to lose, let us know how you got on.

They are OK.

Bills handy hints. Knock on the door and ask if they want to get rid of that old bike.
Dont mention the words 'sell' or 'for sale'.
Dont let on that you know what make, model etc the bike is
Act as dumb as possible as you can about the bike without appearing totally crass.
Always start at at £50 as an offer unless the thing is worth less than £50 of course.

Keep us updated Jem.

I think the only weak point is the generator but it's not too bad to sort. If it starts, stick a multimeter (set to DC volts) across the battery and check that the reading goes up. That shows it's charging ok.
Like Bill says, act a bit daft and let us know how you get on.

But I have been offered a Z500 and asked to make an offer as it's not been used for a couple of years but I have no idea what they are worth anyone know what they are like?
And I would have to have it shipped from Cheshire to London, so that's an extra expense to be taking into consideration

Get anything Jem, somethings better than nothing. who gives a fuck what it is, as long as you'll be able to ride it at some point.

Get the best you can afford, and enjoy.
